Reef-safe sunscreen recommendation
Reef-safe sunscreen is very important.
Some ingredients in conventional sunscreen is potentially dangerous for corals and ocean wildlife. Luckily more and more countries are talking about bans for certain ingredients in sunscreens.

Get Your 10% Discount For Raw Elements' Reef-Safe Sunscreen
I tried Raw Elements’ Reef-Safe Sunscreen last year and I really liked it. I personally just don’t use it for running because it’s too thick (I sweat a lot in summer :D), but since it’s a reef safe (not running safe) sunscreen I guess that’s fine. 😉
- Their sunscreen is all natural (no harmful ingredients)
- It’s waterproof, so it’s perfect for swimming, snorkeling, surfing.
- They even have a tinted version if you don’t like the whitish color on your skin from zinc based sunscreen.
- They have plastic free packaged sunscreen too!
- Plus they were kind enough to offer you a 10% discount, so you can try it out yourself.
Where else can you buy Reef-Safe Sunscreen?
These are my four favorite places to shop for it…
Local Organic Stores: One option is to look around in your local organic store. They should have reef safe sunscreens in stock. Check the ingredients though before buying. (Avoid Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, Benzophenone ).
Etsy: You can sometimes also find natural sunscreen in zero waste shops or online searching Etsy.
Amazon: Always worth a look if you’re looking for other brands as well. Here are a few ones that I haven’t tried yet, but got recommended from friends:
No worries if you can’t find plastic free reef-safe sunscreen in your local shops. It is definitely more important to get reef-safe sunscreen than to avoid plastic in this case. If you go on a beach holiday somewhere where you researched there is only landfill and no trustworthy recycling, you can be a responsible traveler and take your empty bottle home with you and discard it safely into the recycling bin.
